1. Rudo’s Mental State
One of the most important parts of the episode is Rudo’s growing confusion and trauma.
While traveling back, Rudo keeps remembering a strange figure he saw near the Border — the same masked person connected to Regto’s death. This deeply affects him because it hints that the truth behind his past is much bigger than he thought.
This episode shows that:
- Rudo is no longer only motivated by revenge
- He is starting to search for the hidden truth about the Sphere
- His memories are becoming more important to the plot
The anime extends some of these memory scenes compared to the manga, making the mystery feel more intense.
2. Healing and the Calm Before Chaos
The Cleaners visit Alice Stilza and Eishia to recover from their injuries. Here the anime briefly slows down and gives emotional breathing room after the heavy action of earlier episodes.
This section also introduces the idea of the “Cloud” or Trash Storm:
- Sometimes massive amounts of trash fall from the Sphere
- Entire areas can be destroyed
- The Ground becomes even more unstable during these storms
This is symbolic too:
- Trash literally falls from the “perfect” upper world
- The people below suffer from the waste of society above
That theme is central to Gachiakuta’s worldbuilding.
3. Semiu’s Warning
The tension rises when Semiu Grier contacts the team and warns them to enter the Cleaner headquarters from the back entrance because “pests” are attacking.
At first the word “pests” sounds strange, but then the episode reveals something serious:
The Raiders Have Arrived
A dangerous enemy faction called the Raiders appears.
These characters immediately feel different from ordinary enemies:
- They are organized
- Violent
- Confident
- Interested in Rudo specifically
The final moments of the episode create a huge cliffhanger as the Cleaners and Raiders face each other directly.
Why Episode 14 Is Important

- Rudo’s psychological struggle
- The coming Trash Storm Arc
